The natural striations in the hand-carved serpentine show us the talent of Joanne Cheama, Zuni artist. This little frog on his leaf measures 2 1/2" long, 1 1/2" wide, and only stands 3/4" tall. The frog is inlaid with turquoise dots on his back, accenting the mother-of-pearl and inlaid onyx eyes. All tribes make small stone carvings, and it is the Zuni who are the most skillful stone carvers. Frogs and tadpoles represent the cycle of life. This fetish has been signed on the leaf-detailed bottom by the artist. All Native American items are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
