Kathryn Yauney "Sunkawakan" The Horse Sculpture. This is artist proof number 2 of a limited edition. Measures 15h x 9w x 6.5d in. Kathryn Yauney has degrees in history and art from Chadron State College. She is a member of the Cherokee Nation and has taught art on the Sioux Pine Indian Reservation.
Kathryn’s pieces are handmade using natural South Dakota clay and mixed media. Spirit masks and sculptures feature beads combined with porcupine quills, antlers, horns and select furs to portray different aspects of Native American life. Sculptures are designed to be displayed in a mirror to show the “oneness” with nature that was the basis of Native American culture, and a history of each piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
