This Vintage Hopi White Ogre Kachina Doll by Native American, Robert Allison depicts Wiharu. He accompanies the Black Ogre and Soyoko to the dances. Their faces are represented on the base. They work together to entertain the children and collect food for offerings. Displaying a bulbous, clacking mouth, his head is beautifully carved with traditional details. He wears a spotted shawl and decorated sash and holds a saw and bow at the ready. He wears a quiver with arrows and stands on a large stump. Signed under the base. About 23" tall (includes base) and 11" wide. This large, Hopi White Ogre Kachina Doll is one of a kind and begs to be noticed!
Provenance: Robert (1954- ) was born in Phoenix to the Reed Clan. He comes from a talented family of carvers, basket makers, potters and painters. He has won numerous awards and has exhibited at the Heard Museum
